Senator John A. DeFrancisco (R-I-C, Syracuse) today recognized Ashley C. Rowland, a Central New York West Point cadet during West Point Day at the New York State Capitol. Ms. Rowland is from Baldwinsville and is a 2005 graduate of C.W. Baker High School.

"All of these cadets are exceptional young men and woman, but I am especially proud to honor Ashley Rowland who is from my 50th Senate District," said Senator DeFrancisco. "Ms. Rowland should be commended for her patriotism, dedication and strong commitment to our Nation. For Ashley to answer the call to serve in this dangerous time is truly an inspiration to all of us."

Ashley Rowland is a senior at West Point majoring in Sociology. She is a Regimental S3 (Operations Officer) and serves as Commander of the Student Conference on United States Affairs (SCUSA).

Ms. Rowland and several other cadets from the United States Military Academy at West Point were acknowledged during today’s New York State Senate session. The Senate adopted a resolution in their honor.

Cadets and officers were also invited to a private breakfast and luncheon at the Capitol, and were honored by Governor David A. Paterson and the New York State Assembly.

This year marks the 57th annual West Point Day at the New York State Capitol.
