Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently visited the members of the William Sidney Mount Elementary School Student Government to discuss his role as a state senator. The visit, which was arranged by the club’s advisors Ms. Stefanie Baldante and Ms. Suzanne Luhmer, provided Senator Flanagan with an opportunity to teach the students about the inner-workings of the Senate and to discuss the issues facing New York State with the civic-minded students.
After opening the meeting with a quick summary of New York State Government, Senator Flanagan answered a number of questions from the students about a wide-range of state issues.
"Bringing state government to the students I represent is a great honor and one of the best parts of being a New York State Senator. I thank Ms. Baldante, Ms. Luhmer and the students for inviting me and for a fun discussion of the issues facing our state,” stated Senator Flanagan. “The student’s knowledge of current state affairs was extremely impressive and hopefully they enjoyed our time together.”
