To help the Webelos of Cub Scout Pack 379 in Kings Park achieve their Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge, Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently visited their meeting to discuss his job as a New York State Senator. This visit, which helped the troop satisfy one of the requirements for obtaining the badge, was coordinated by Den Mom Christine Rome.
During the meeting at the R.J.O. Intermediate School the fourth-graders attend, Senator Flanagan discussed his role as a state legislator and spoke to the scouts about how they could play a role in the legislative process. The boys then took the opportunity to ask Senator Flanagan questions about his position and his life as a senator.
"Meeting with the younger members of our community is truly one of the most enjoyable and important parts of my job. Hopefully, the scouts learned a lot about our state government and enjoyed our discussion as much as I did," said Senator Flanagan.
