Senator José M. Serrano was proud to join neighborhood volunteers at It's My Park Day at Franz Sigel Park on the Grand Concourse.
"Although I wasn't able to get there in time to help with the actual planting, I was so pleased to thank and congratulate the local volunteers for working hard - in the rain, I might add - to ensure that our local park looks its best," said Serrano.
Senator Serrano, who planted tulip and daffodil bulbs in last fall's Park Day believes that pride in one's community is one of the strongest ways to uplift a neighborhood.
This year the volunteers planted bulbs, added mulch to the base of newly planted trees, and painted garbage cans.
