Senator Addabbo Announces Stimulus Funding Transportation Projests in Quuens

 
 
State Senator Joseph P. Addabbo,  Jr. (D-Howard Beach) today announced the distribution of funding for transportation projects in Queens County through the federal American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA).  These investments will provide for essential highway and bridge repairs and other long-term improvements that will create an estimated 794 jobs.

“I would like to thank our New York Congressional Delegation for working tirelessly on making sure that a portion of the federal stimulus funding is utilized to make immediate improvements to the roadways our area.”, said Addabbo.
 
New York City is expected to receive $313.9 million in economic recovery funding for road and bridge work.  “Of the total allocation of funds, a portion of the ARRA funding been designated to replace sign panels on highways in New York City, including the Belt Parkway, Long Island Expressway, Nassau Expressway, and the Van Wyck Expressway”, explained Addabbo.  “Approximately 150 overhead and 11 ground-mounted sign panels that have deteriorated lost reflectivity or do not meet federal standards will be replaced.  These projects, for which $3.1 million has been allocated, will begin immediately and will provide jobs for many of our workers until February of 2011”.
