“INVEST IN NEW YORK” TRADE MISSION TO CHINA
Senator Parker stands along Senate colleagues to announce new business opportunities to promote inward investments, spur economic growth and create more jobs in New York State
Brooklyn, NY- State Senator Kevin S. Parker accompanied both Senate President Pro Temp Malcolm A. Smith and Majority Conference Leader John L. Sampson and many others on a successful nine-day trade mission to China. The 2009 State Legislators Trade Mission was organized in cooperation with the Asian American Business Development Center, AABDC with a focus on fostering greater business activity between New York State and China. Senator Parker who is a key supporter of AABDC’s efforts announced several agreements reached which could result in millions of dollars in revenue to the state.
“I am confident that the discussions held with several investors will not only help to fix the crumbling fiscal market but will also spur long-term economic growth in our communities,” said Senator Parker. “I believe we are in the right direction in creating solid business partnerships.”
Nanjing, the capitol of Jiangsu Province, hosted the key event of the trade mission -- the 20th anniversary celebration of the Sister-State agreement between New York State and Jiangsu Province. The Standing Committee of Jiangsu Provincial People’s Congress and leaders of the New York delegation signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) on expanding and deepening cooperation between Jiangsu and New York.
Additional partnerships being explored include:
· ZDWT: ZhongDe Group designs, manufactures and installs pyrolytic, grate and rotary kiln waste incinerators for the disposal of solid medical, municipal (mixed household refuse) and industrial (including hazardous) waste.
· Trina Solar: One of the leading energy providers in the world, Trina Solar was established in 1997. Total annual sales income for the company exceeds $100 million. Trina Solar is located in several countries, and had expressed interest in New York State for location of its North America headquarter.
· Macalline Furniture Company: The number one furniture retail operators in China, Macalline is looking to build and operate stores and corporate offices in the Upstate region of the state. The furniture models are predominantly high tech, 21st Century furniture designs.
Chinese business leaders will visit New York State before the end of the year to continue discussions on the proposed business opportunities. Additional ventures may be announced in the near future, including an e-waste company that has expressed significant interest to invest in New York.
