Senator Parker helps make Christmas a happy holiday for local children
Annual holiday toy give-away offered hundreds of toys for children in need
Brooklyn, NY – As part of an annual tradition, Senator Parker hosted his sixth toy give-away party to donate over 600 toys for children in need. This year with the help of Health Plus, Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, Forest City Ratner and Toys ‘R’ Us, the holiday season kicked off on a cheerful note.
“It’s the time of year to be giving, especially to our children,” says Senator Parker. “Giving is the best part of Christmas. With our economy in trouble, many people will be struggling to buy gifts for their kids. These organizations came together and their contributions will make a huge difference for families in the 21st district who need a little extra help this year.”
The lively event was a huge success, bringing joy and laughter to the children in the East Flatbush section. Approximately 30 community based organizations and churches attended and collected toys. Guests were treated to holiday treats including egg nog, donuts, and cookies. After Santa Claus arrived, the children lined up to select a toy and to take individual pictures.
State Senator Kevin Parker’s next major event, ‘A Shared Dream’, a tribute in word and song to the life of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be held at Brooklyn College on January 18, 2010. For more details, please contact Mynah Gooden at 718-629-6401.
