SENATOR PARKER HOSTS FREE SENIORS SERVICES DAY AT DISTRICT OFFICE
NYC Agencies and private organizations partner to outreach to community seniors of array of needed services

July 10, 2009 (Brooklyn)    Well-known for his advocacy on behalf of Central Brooklyn senior residents, Senator Parker hosted more than 30 senior residents at his annual “Seniors Services Day” on Friday, July 10, 2009. Visitors met with vendors from a host of New York State and City agencies as they showcased their array of healthcare and safety benefits and programs.

“Ease of access is always foremost in our planning for constituents, especially our senior residents who have limited mobility” said Senator Parker.   “Today our visitors left with individual help , in the convenience of my district office.   In addition, Seniors Services Day gives us a chance to give back to those who have given so much of themselves throughout the years.”

Seniors received free one-on-one counseling from : AARP (American Association of Retired Persons), Social Security Administration, NYS Office of the Attorney General and the New York City Department of Aging.

“Seniors rely heavily on assistance in comparing all the Medicare plans to ensure they choose the best one for their situation,” explained James Sfiroudis, Consumer Frauds Representative for the NYS Office of the Attorney General. “Without initiatives such as this, our seniors may miss out on programs and services that are vital to their well-being.”

Senator Parker’s 2009 Free Summer Mobile Series is an annual, free event open to Central Brooklyn residents.   For more information on a detailed list of Sen. Parker’s 2009 summer events calendar, please contact the district office at   718-629-6401.
