Safety Enhancements at Belt Parkway’s 4th Avenue Entrance

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C, Brooklyn) is announcing that the Department of Transportation has responded to his request to study the safety of the entrance to the Belt Parkway at 4th Avenue, and has already installed "quik curbs" and additional signage is set to be installed next week.

Senator Golden received a concern from a local resident after the recent news of the accident on the Taconic State Parkway. Senator Golden immediately contacted the Department of Transportation to bring to their attention the concerns related to the signage, which at times, can cause confusion for motorists getting onto the Belt Parkway.

Senator Golden stated, "I thank the Department of Transportation for their speedy response to installing better and more reassuring signage and markings for all motorists who utilize the 4th Avenue entrance/exit of the Belt Parkway. We need to maintain a safe driving environment for all to the best of our ability, and if these additional "quik curbs" and signs can save lives and prevent accidents, it was well worth the effort."

Golden continued, "I can completely understand the concern in the way this was marked and I do hope now, with the new indicators, motorists will be directed properly and there will no longer be any sense of concern or potential for accidents where cars are mistakenly going in the wrong direction."
