Senator Golden Names Community Activist Eileen Laruffa 2009 “Woman of Distinction”

Brooklyn- State Senator Marty Golden (R-C, 22nd District) recently honored community activist Eileen LaRuffa, for her outstanding work on behalf of our community, with special recognition from the State Senate as a 2009 New York "Woman of Distinction." Senator Golden presented the award in his district office.
"Eileen is a remarkable women in our midst whose life, work and special accomplishments contribute to making our community a better place to live, work and raise a family. Eileen’s service should be an example to others," said Senator Golden. "The Senate’s Women of Distinction program provides a special opportunity to honor women from across of New York State for their achievements."
Eileen LaRuffa was born and raised in Brooklyn and attended St. Patrick’s School in Bushwick. Eileen has worked and been active in the community for many years, having worked for many noteworthy organizations and has held numerous positions in many civic organizations.
Eileen is currently the Public Relations Director for St. Finbar Church and previously served as the Secretary and Recording Secretary for the Home School association and the Marian Rosary Society. Eileen LaRuffa also serves as a member of Community Board 11.
Eileen LaRuffa is an original member of the Bensonhurst Volunteer Ambulance Service. Eileen married Dominick LaRuffa in 1960 and, they raised two children, Maria and Dominick.
