Brooklyn- State Senator Martin J. Golden (R-C-I, Brooklyn) has been informed today that the Farmer's Market at 2961 Avenue U at Brown Street has been inspected, cleaned and issued violations by the various city agencies involved.
The complaint was brought to the attention of Senator Golden at a recent town hall meeting he hosted in Marine Park. Since the meeting, Senator Golden and his staff have made sure that a multi-agency response was organized to address the conditions at this location which has negatively impacted the quality of life for local residents.
Senator Marty Golden stated “This market has been expanding and causing problems within the community for many years. I will maintain that the owners need to operate within the law and with respect to the community. We will not allow store owners to intrude onto our sidewalks or other properties, and destroy the overall integrity of the community.”
Senator Golden continued, “I commend the dedication of the Department of Buildings and the Department of Sanitation, along with the Mayor’s Community Assistance Unit, for their quick response and efforts to resolve this problem. Today is a step in the right direction. We will continue to monitor this location and make sure that the owners are meeting the standards and following the rules.”
