State Senator Owen H. Johnson (4th Senate District, Babylon) recently honored Reinhardt “Rick” Van Dyke, LMSW, upon the occasion of his retirement from the Family Service League. Senator Johnson presented Van Dyke with a New York State Legislative Resolution commending him for his distinguished service to the Family Service League at a retirement party that was held at Carlyle on the Green in Farmingdale. The legislative resolution was cosponsored by the entire Long Island Senate delegation.
Rick Van Dyke served as President and CEO of the Family Service League from 1986-2009. While there, he developed a large number of new and creative programs to assist children and strengthen families. He has been active in designing new human service initiatives and delivery systems, as well as initiating social policy. Most recently, he was instrumental in founding the Huntington Interfaith Homeless Initiative and the Huntington Community Council.
“Rick Van Dyke is someone whose work has made a positive and lasting difference in many individual lives and made Long Island a better place in the process,” said Senator Johnson. “Rick Van Dyke was a pleasure to work with. I will be forever grateful for the important community services he helped deliver to people in need.”
The Family Service League focuses on the people of Long Island and their most pressing needs. The organization offers more than 50 programs which currently help nearly 47,000 Long Islanders rebuild their lives each year.
