Bronx Borough President Elect Ruben Diaz Jr. To Join Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for Reverend Ruben Diaz Gardens

On Friday, April 24, 2009 at 12:00 noon, the newly elected Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr., will join Senator Rev. Ruben Diaz, Mr. Sol Arker from the Arker companies, Ministers and community residents in a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony to inaugurate Reverend Ruben Diaz Gardens located at 967 Kelly Street, corner of Westchester Avenue in The Bronx.
“I am honored to be a part of a project that will be a step in the right direction for a basic problem facing too many Bronx residents: the need for more affordable housing,” stated the newly elected Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr.
According to Senator Rev. Ruben Diaz: “This residential space consists of 111 apartment units. I am delighted that through this initiative we can offer a greater sense of dignity to the families and individuals who will reside there.”
The Reverend Ruben Diaz Gardens apartment units will include 11 studios, 44 one-bedroom apartments, 45 two-bedroom apartments, and 11 three-bedroom apartments, for households earning no more than 60% of Area Median Income. In addition, ten of the units are specifically set aside for formerly homeless households.
The Project was developed as a joint venture between the Arker Companies and Jackson Development, and is managed by Progressive Management of New York Corporation.
