Statement By Senator Reverend Ruben Diaz
Ruben Diaz
June 24, 2009
“The great Governor of the State of New York is so out of touch with New Yorkers that he does not know what he is doing.
Governor David Paterson claims that he is punishing the Senators by making us stay here in Albany. However, the reality is that nothing is getting accomplished.
The reality is that Governor Paterson is not punishing us - - he is blessing us. Each day spent in Albany, every Senator is paid an additional stipend of $160.00, which is paid by the people of New York.
The fact of the matter is that the only ones Governor Paterson is punishing are the taxpayers of New York State. The people of New York are paying for the Governor's inability to govern.”
