(Albany, NY) - On Tuesday, April 28, 2009, the New York State Senate passed Senate Bill 3755, introduced by Majority Conference Chairwoman Senator Ruth Hassell-Thompson and co-sponsored by Deputy Majority Leader Senator Jeff Klein. This legislation will allow the Bronx Zoo to continue to reserve at least one day each week as free admission day to the public for another three years. In the past, as a result of the one day free admission program, the Bronx Zoo’s attendance has increased as families and schools were able to take advantage of this wonderful community treasure.
"During these difficult economic times, people deserve a place that is both affordable and educational, and the Bronx Zoo has always provided this service to our community through its exceptional programs," said Senator Hassell-Thompson. "Now is not the time to deny future generations the pleasure and knowledge that can arise after spending a day in this state of the art science and wildlife facility."
