Statement of Senator Thomas K. Duane on Passage of Same-Sex Civil Marriage Legislation in Maine
"Today Maine Governor John E. Baldacci signed into law legislation legalizing same-sex civil marriage. This is yet another hurdle cleared in the fight for civil and equal rights for all Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people. Now all eyes turn to the New York State Senate to do the same. The momentum is here and I vow that civil marriage will become a reality in New York -- and that it will happen soon." -- State Senator Thomas K. Duane (D, WFP-Manhattan)
