Senator Bill Larkin (R-C, Cornwall-on-Hudson) recently announced that his New Windsor and Albany offices have collected nearly 300 cell phones to be donated to the charitable group Cell Phones for Soldiers. The donations provide free calling cards to American troops overseas.
“The generosity my constituents have displayed is magnificent,” said Senator Larkin, “Through their kindness we have collected enough cell phones to provide hundreds of hours of free calling time to our troops overseas.”
Cell Phones for Soldiers is a nonprofit organization that sends old cellular phones to ReCellular, which pays Cell Phones for Soldiers for each donated phone. The reimbursement is enough money to provide for one hour of long-distance talk time to soldiers abroad.
“I am extremely pleased to see the positive response this program has received,” said Senator Larkin, “I urge anyone who has a used cell phone to donate it so our fighting men and women may reach their loved ones back home.”
