The OBX will be closed from both NY & NJ directions on Sunday, October 3^rd from 6:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. to safely accommodate a full-scale NJ mutual aid drill simulating a tanker truck accident/spill on the bridge’s westbound lanes (New Jersey bound).

Motorists should use the Goethals Bridge or other crossings between New York and New Jersey during these times.

Road Closures & Detours

Staten Island – New York

Route 440 West will be closed right before the entrance to the bridge and detour signs will direct traffic to Boscombe Ave back onto Route 440 East towards Goethals Bridge.
