Senator Thompson And NYSERDA President Frank Murray Announce MLK Energy Challenge Program To Cut Utility Bills And Save Energy

Buffalo, NY- New York State Senator Antoine M. Thompson (D-Parts of Erie & Niagara Counties), will be holding a press conference along with the President and CEO of NYSERDA, Francis J. Murray, Jr., representatives from FLARE, DHCR, WNY AmeriCorps and the MLK Block Club Association.  The press conference will be held on Friday, February 19, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the home of Kenneth Elliott at 1217 Fillmore Avenue which, is undergoing energy efficiency services as a way to lower his electric and gas bills.

Senator Thompson has joined forces with NYSERDA, WNY AmeriCorps, DHCR, The Matt Urban Center and FLARE for the MLK Energy Challenge, which offers energy reduction measures at no cost to the homeowner for income eligible residents on the periphery of MLK Park and beyond.  This project combines energy efficiency to fight climate change and save consumers money along with an economic development thrust to lift the profile and desirability of the MLK Park neighborhood.  This area was chosen because it is a central component of Senator Thompson’s efforts to revitalize Buffalo’s East Side.
