Buffalo, NY – New York State Senator Antoine M. Thompson (D-Parts of Erie & Niagara Counties) salutes the participants of his annual Western New York Spelling Bee. This was the ninth year for the spelling bee, which registered more than one hundred students, grades five through eight from Buffalo, Niagara Falls, Lockport and Amherst.
The WNY Spelling Bee awarded first, second and third place trophies and each student was honored with a certificate of appreciation for participating. Senator Thompson calls each student a winner for taking on the challenge.
“The spelling bee is always fun and serves as another way of promoting literacy, which is the foundation for a good education.”
