Buffalo, NY – New York State Senator Antoine M. Thompson (D-Parts of Erie & Niagara Counties) will be hosting the introduction of the Green Jobs-Green NY initiative to Western New York.
“As Chair of the Environmental Conservation Committee, I am pleased to be able to host this event,” stated Thompson. “The future is in green jobs and it is important to let the community know the opportunities that exist for them.”
Green Jobs-Green NY is a statewide program to promote energy efficiency and the installation of clean technologies to reduce energy costs and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. The program will support sustainable community development and create opportunities for green jobs. This program will be administered by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA).
This program provides $112 million in funding, part of which will be used for a revolving loan fund to finance eligible projects. It also authorizes NYSERDA to establish a program for the performance of energy audits and energy efficiency retrofits or improvements for residential, small business, and for not-for-profit property owners.
