Buffalo, NY – New York State Senator Antoine Thompson (D-parts of Erie and Niagara Counties) works to secure emergency funding for repairs that need to be made at the Big Six Mile Creek Marina on Grand Island. The funding for the emergency repairs is contained in the Governor’s Budget Extender, which is headed before the Legislature today for a vote.
Thompson’s action is in response to Grand Island Officials and residents who have paid the necessary fees to use the marina’s dock and slip, but have not been able to enjoy the annual summer recreation.
Thompson says, “It’s not fair for the people who have already paid their boating fees to be denied the opportunity to enjoy summer boating. It has been nearly a month and the people who use the Big Six Mile Creek Marina are still waiting.”
The marina is part of the New York State Park System, which is still in need of funding.
