Buffalo, NY- New York State Senator Antoine M. Thompson (D-Parts of Erie & Niagara Counties), will be hosting his 9th Annual WNY Spelling Bee Challenge on May 22, 2010 at the Buffalo & Erie County Historical Society.
The Spelling Bee is an educational and recreational event that seeks to reinforce educational values and rewards children for pursuing academic excellence. All students in grades five through eight living in the 60th District are eligible for the spelling bee contest.
“The Spelling Bee is a great opportunity for kids to have fun, show off their spelling skills and it’s educational too,” stated Senator Thompson.
The judges for this year’s event will be: Honorable Judge James A. McCloud and Honorable Judge Craig Hannah, both from Buffalo City Court, Honorable Frank Caruso, Supreme Court Judge, Mrs. Pamela Cahill and Catherine Nugent-Panepinto both members of the Buffalo Board of Education.
This event is free and open to all elementary students in 5th grades through 8th who live in Western New York. Call Senator Thompson’s Buffalo office for an application for registration @ 854-8705.
