Buffalo, NY – There is a water quality problem with Scajaquada Creek and New York State Senator Antoine Thompson (D-parts of Erie & Niagara Counties) is holding a Summit to find ways to clean it up. Thompson will assemble community stakeholders to discuss concerns and the best approach to improving the creek’s water quality.
One of the Senator’s ideas for cleaning up the creek is to eliminate the sewer overflows that empty into the creek. As the Chair of the Environmental Conservation Committee Thompson says, “I would also like to see the creation of a Scajaquada Creek Protection Zone where new projects would need to have either no impact or a net positive impact on the creek’s water quality.”
Presentations will be given by:
Ms. Julie O’Neil – Buffalo Niagara Riverkeeper
Mr. Bogdan Fundalinski - History of the creek
Mr. Jerry Palumbo –NYSDEC – Regional Water Engineer
Mr. Jordan Dalton – Curator - Beyond the Multitudes
Mr. Joseph Dispenza – President Forest Lawn Cemetery
