SUBJECT: Labor practices and customer service quality at the Staten Island E-ZPass facility and related facilities
PURPOSE: New York State needs to ensure that all State Agencies, Authorities, Public Benefit Corporations and their contactors are in compliance with all Federal and State labor laws. Violations of these laws may result in a hostile work environment leading to worker’s discrimination and poor quality work product.
Conditions at the Staten Island E-Z Pass Facility and related facilities have come under questions and this hearing seeks to ascertain the nature of the problem and provide appropriate remedies to any problems discovered.

The Senate Corporations, Authorities and Commissions Committee will receive testimony on the following:
• Ability of employees to exercise their right to unionize or not unionize
• Ability of union members to participate in union activities
• Collective bargaining procedures
• Changes to compensation and benefits
• Customer service quality
Persons wishing to present testimony at the hearing should complete and return the enclosed reply form as soon as possible. It is important that the reply form be fully completed and returned so that persons may be notified in the event of postponement or cancellation of the hearing.
