Senator Brian X. Foley (D – Blue Point) announced today that he has been able to secure funding for Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center.
The $252,000 capital grant that Senator Foley provided, which will be administered through the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), will be used to upgrade the facility’s imaging equipment. The current, outdated equipment will be replaced with newer technology that will improve the images obtained and reduce exposure to radiation.
“One of the best parts of my job is being able to assist facilities on Long Island that are providing the highest level of service to our residents, but need a little extra help to take the services to an even higher level,” said Senator Foley. “Brookhaven Memorial Hospital and its staff has been providing such care to our residents for many decades and I am glad that the funding I can provide through the state will help them continue to do so for many years to come.”
“These grants will allow Brookhaven to continue upgrading and enhancing our imaging equipment and facility,” said Thomas Ockers, President and Chief Executive Officer of Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center. “The radiography and fluoroscopy machine will replace an older unit with state of the art technology. This will allow us to obtain high quality images with minimal radiation exposure. The capital improvement grant will be used to improve our infrastructure.”
The grant being announced today is the second such grant Senator Foley has been able to provide to the hospital. Last year, Senator Foley secured $400,000 in capital funding for the hospital.
