Senator Brian X. Foley (D – Blue Point) announced today that he has secured funding for the Greater Patchogue Foundation.
The $100,000 capital grant that Senator Foley provided, which will be administered through the Dormitory Authority of the State of New York (DASNY), will be used to make improvements to the sidewalks and curbing around the Lakeview Cemetery. The completion of improvements to the sidewalks will compliment the newly reconstructed front entrance gates, archway and gate pillars that replicate those first constructed in 1899.
“The Greater Patchogue Foundation has been at the forefront of the revitalization of Patchogue Village, working hand-in-hand with the Mayor to help shape a vision for the community,” said Senator Foley. “But while they are looking forward to what could be, the Cemetery Restoration Committee is ensuring that we do not forget what has already happened. I commend the volunteers for the work that they do to preserve the history of our community and I am glad to be able to provide them necessary funding so they may continue their work. Just the other day, I was cris-crossing the district attending events and drove past the Lakeview Cemetery three times throughout the morning and afternoon, and each time I passed, I saw the volunteers hard at work restoring the grounds. It is this kind of visible show of commitment that shows those of us in elected office that the funding we are able to provide is being put to good use.”
“The Greater Patchogue Foundation is very pleased to receive this $100,000 grant for capital improvements from Senator Brian Foley,” said Lorice Fiala, President of the Greater Patchogue Foundation. “Senator Foley has always been very cooperative in helping Patchogue whenever possible. This grant will be used to improve sidewalks and curbing surrounding the Lakeview Cemetery on West Main Street. Our Cemetery Restoration Committee chairperson, Steve Gill, works tirelessly on improving the cemetery and his is most appreciative of the grant. It certainly is another step forward in the on-going revitalization of Patchogue.”
