New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) was recently honored by Winthrop University Hospital for his efforts to help the hospital’s child patients.
Winthrop Hospital recognized Senator Fuschillo for organizing an annual “Extend the Holidays” toy drive to benefit children in the hospital’s Pediatric Unit. The “Extend the Holidays” toy drive, which Senator Fuschillo has been organizing for more than ten years, collects toys which are delivered to children in the hospital after the holidays, so they can continue to experience the joy of receiving a holiday gift throughout the new year. Hundreds of toys are collected through the program each year with the assistance of local families, schools, and labor unions.
