New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today invited local families to participate in his annual summer reading program.
“It’s important to help children develop a joy for reading because it is a skill that will benefit them throughout their lives. This program is a great way to encourage children to continue reading and learning during their summer vacation from school. I invite all families to participate,” said Senator Fuschillo.
The program, which is open to elementary school students in Senator Fuschillo’s district, encourages students to continue reading outside of school during the summer months. Children that participate in the program must read at least three books during the summer months, and write a description of them in the “Summer Reading Journal.” After the record book is completed and signed by a parent, children can mail it to Senator Fuschillo’s office and receive an official Senate certificate for completing the program.
Parents who would like to have their children participate in Senator Fuschillo’s Summertime Reading Program should call Senator Fuschillo’s office at 516-882-0630 or print out a copy of the "Summer Reading Journal" attached below.
