New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) today visited Levy-Lakeside Elementary School in Merrick to participate in the school’s annual “Community Read Aloud.”
Levy-Lakeside’s “Community Read Aloud” is an annual event where local community leaders, such as Senator Fuschillo, visit the school to read to students and help them develop their own love of reading.
Senator Fuschillo read “House Mouse, Senate Mouse” by Peter and Cheryl Barnes to students in Mrs. Iseman’s kindergarten class. The story allowed the children to learn in a fun way what Senator Fuschillo’s job is and how laws are made.
To help the students further understand how new laws are made, Senator Fuschillo offered some ideas to the class and had them vote on whether or not they thought they should become law.
