New York State Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently visited Mepham High School to thank students for participating in his cell phones for soldiers program. Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R-North Merrick) joined Senator Fuschillo in thanking the students for their efforts, which will benefit soldiers serving overseas.
The phones collected by the Mepham students, along with the over 1,000 phones collected through the program, were sent to ReCellular, a cell phone recycling company. The donated phones will be used to purchase calling cards for the “Cell Phones for Soldiers” program. The calling cards will be sent to soldiers serving overseas so that they can call their loved ones back home.
“The students did a great job collecting phones, and their efforts will help the men and women serving our country overseas stay in touch with their loved ones. They should be extremely proud of the job they did,” said Senator Fuschillo.
