Senator Charles J. Fuschillo, Jr. (R-Merrick) recently visited William Rall Elementary School in Lindenhurst to speak with the student council about his “Extend the Holidays” toy drive. The student council, which will be participating in “Extend the Holidays” by collecting toys from students and staff at the school, invited Senator Fuschillo to come and teach them more about the program.
“Extend the Holidays” is an annual toy drive Senator Fuschillo organizes for the benefit of children in Winthrop Hospital’s Pediatric Ward. Toys are delivered after the holiday season, so that children can experience the joys of receiving a holiday gift throughout the year.
After thanking the students for participating in the program, Senator Fuschillo spoke with them about why he organizes the “Extend the Holidays” toy drive each year and how Winthrop Hospital uses the toys to help cheer up their child patients. Over 1,000 toys were collected as part of last year’s “Extend the Holidays” toy drive.
“It’s great to see how excited the students at William Rall are about participating in this program and helping other children who are in need of some extra cheer,” said Senator Fuschillo. “I thank them for participating in ‘Extend the Holidays’ and I’m sure they are going to do a great job.”
