MEDIA ADVISORY: NYS Senator Eric Adams, Chair of the Senate Committee on Racing, Gaming and Wagering, releases a statement on the selection of AEG for Aqueduct:
“I wish to commend the Governor on his selection of an operator for Aqueduct; the development is of major importance to the thoroughbred industry in New York and to the State as a whole, especially during our current economic and budget crises.
The project will provide a significant economic engine for the future, and it will supply many much-needed jobs and stimulate our economy.
“Aqueduct affords considerable development potential, including retail stores, restaurants, entertainment facilities, and hotels. The gaming operator must work closely with the community on expansion plans and establish a local employment/small business center to provide information to individuals looking for jobs and local vendors in search of retail business opportunities at the new facility.”
“I urge the Governor to commence the next phase of negotiations with AEG to ensure swift completion of the Aqueduct development.”
