NYS Department of State Designates Bayside, Bellerose, Queens Village and Whitestone As Cease and Desist Zones

New York State Senator Frank Padavan (Queens) announced today that the neighborhoods of Bayside, Bellerose, Queens Village and Whitestone will be cease and desist zones effective August 1, 2010. Under the program sponsored by the New York State Department of State, licensed real estate brokers and salespersons are prohibited from soliciting listings of residential property from homeowners whose names appear on the list. The cease and desist program was established through legislation sponsor by Senator Padavan .
“This is a perfect opportunity for homeowners in these designated neighborhoods to ward off unwanted and pesky salespersons and real estate brokers,” Padavan said. “I urge homeowner to take a step to stop over-the-top solicitations and join the cease and desist program as soon as possible.”
Padavan noted that previously the entire borough of Queens was designated as cease and desist zone. Following hearing and meetings the Department of State deemed the Northeastern Queens neighborhoods of Bayside, Bellerose, Queens Village and Whitestone as eligible for the program.
Homeowners who want to be placed on the official cease and desist list must fill out a from located at the Department of State website at http://www.dos.state.ny.us/lcns/cdform.asp. All forms must be completed and sent to the Department of State by July 8, 2010 to be included on the cease and desist listing.
