Senator Maziarz scores high on job creation efforts

Senator George Maziarz received one of the top scores on the job creation scorecard released by the Business Council of New York State.  The Business Council recognized Senator Maziarz for consistently voting against measures to increase taxes and spending that were proposed and passed by the current Senate Majority.  In fact, the Business Council flunked every current Senate Majority member.

“I appreciate that the Business Council has recognized my record for standing up for measures that will help create more jobs in Upstate New York and voting against tax increases that have hurt businesses and chased jobs out of state,” Senator Maziarz said.

Senator Maziarz proposed a job creation plan that included new tax credits for businesses that create jobs, fought for state spending cuts including reduced Medicaid spending and more government consolidation, and pushed for property tax relief.

The Business Council lauded Senator Maziarz for voting against bills passed by the Senate Majority that imposed costly new regulations and mandates on small and large businesses, including the downstate MTA payroll tax and bills that significantly increased costs for things such as energy and insurance coverage for employees.

Ken Adams, President of the Business Council said: “Republicans really have a much higher score and did much better in supporting pro-economic legislation.  The scorecard will remind voters that the economy is what really matters.”

Senator Maziarz also received high scores for job creation from two other leading pro-jobs organizations -- the National Federation of Independent Businesses (NFIB) and Unshackle Upstate.

Mike Elmendorf, NFIB State Director said: “There’s no question that because of the state’s dire fiscal crisis, small businesses became a target this session for lawmakers looking for quick fixes. Job creators need to know which legislators stood with small business and which legislators voted against their interests.”

“My record proves that I am voting to stop these anti-jobs measures and fighting to get government off the backs of businesses and out of their pocketbooks,” Senator Maziarz.  “I am pleased that the Business Council, as well as the other major business groups in New York recognize my efforts.”
