Albany, N.Y., May 6--State Senator George Winner (R-C-I, Elmira) and his Senate Republican colleagues have introduced a resolution calling on New York Governor David Paterson to immediately set a date for a special election to fill the 29th congressional district seat that has been vacant since the resignation of Eric Massa on March 8th.
“The urgency for a special election to fill the vacancy in the 29th Congressional District can’t be understated. Our communities need and deserve immediate representation in Congress,” said Senator George Winner (R-C-I, Elmira). “Our residents face unprecedented economic and fiscal challenges and decisions. It’s imperative for every community to have full and effective Congressional representation. The people of the 29th District deserve Congressional representation at a time when historic decisions are being made in the areas of national security, health care, economic development and job creation, and so many others that have such an immediate and direct impact on local communities.”
