ONEONTA, 01/24/10 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today announced that personal income tax forms are available at his district offices in Oneonta and Cortlandville.
“Each year more people are taking advantage of electronic tax filing, but for those who don’t have access to a computer, or simply want to put pen to paper, the forms are still available,” said Senator Seward.
According to the New York State Department of Taxation and Finance, nearly 95 percent of New Yorkers either file their returns electronically or use tax forms that are produced by computer software or downloaded from the tax department website. Once again, the state will not be mailing forms to taxpayers. Last year the state saved nearly $1 million in printing and postage expenses through this effort.
“Filing your tax return electronically is safe and secure, helps conserve our natural resources and saves money. As an added bonus, if you are receiving a refund you will get your money back quicker. At the same time though, I want to make sure that those without the ability to file electronically can still get paper forms,” Seward concluded.
If you are interested in a paper tax form please visit Senator Seward’s district office at 41 South Main Street, Oneonta or in Cortlandville at 4030 West Road.
Information concerning electronic tax filing, as well as tax forms, instructions and a link to check your refund status can be found on-line at the state tax department web site.
