ALBANY, 02/23/10 – State Senator James L. Seward (R/C/I-Oneonta) today proudly welcomed students from Cairo-Durham Central School and Frankfort-Schuyler Central School to Albany for the New York State Art Teachers Association 20th Annual Legislative Student Art Exhibit.
“It is a great accomplishment by our local students to have their works displayed with others from across the state,” said Senator Seward. “We have so many talented students and teachers throughout the 51st district and it is exciting to see their artistic creations first hand.”
Art work on display in the Well of the Legislative Office Building is by:
Cairo Elementary 5th graders Carmine Galtieri, Cheyenne Robinson
Durham Elementary 5th graders Connor Petti, Journey Rivenburg
Cairo-Durham Middle School 6th grader Marion Kelleher, 8th grader Brandon Wood
Frankfort-Schuyler Middle School 7th graders Denis Kulev, Emrah Ljubijankic
Frankfort-Schuyler 9th graders Adriana Salatino, Anita Skorina
“The annual Albany art show is a wonderful way to recognize our students’ artistic achievement. The show is proof-positive of the importance of enrichment programs like art in developing well rounded students,” Seward concluded.
The exhibit is organized annually by the New York State Art Teachers Association in partnership with the New York State Alliance for Arts Education in collaboration with state legislators to showcase the artistic achievements of students at the elementary through high school levels. The exhibit will be on display through Friday, February 26th.
