City Island Youth to Receive Outside Basketball Court

Klein presents $10,000 check to City Island Basketball Club

NEW YORK- On Sunday, March 28th, Senator Jeff Klein (D-Bronx/Westchester) presented a $10,000 check to the City Island Basketball Club at the Saint Mary’s Star of the Sea Basketball Awards Breakfast. The money will be used to complete a first-of-its kind outside basketball court including portable hoops.

The City Island Basketball Club began building the court in the fall of 2009 but ran out of funding before completing it. Using Senator Klein's grant, club leaders will complete the project. The new court will provide a safe place for neighborhood kids to gather and play basketball at no cost. The court will be open to all neighborhood children however they must first register with the City Island Basketball Club.

The court should be completed by the end of May, 2010.
