MORE THAN 1100 CELL PHONES COLLECTED IN CELL PHONES FOR SOLDIERS PHONE DRIVE
Senator DeFrancisco Thanks Central New Yorkers for Their Generosity

Senator John A. DeFrancisco (R-I-C, Syracuse) announced today that  Central New Yorkers donated more than 1100 phones to Cell Phones for Soldiers through the phone drive this year.

“My district office set a goal of doubling our collection from the 250 we collected last year,” said Senator DeFrancisco. “Central New Yorkers stepped up for the challenge and have delivered more than 1100 phones to the drop off points in Onondaga County.”
“Central New York has shown an overwhelming amount of support for this wonderful program.  I would like to recognize our three largest contributors, the City of Syracuse and Great Northern and Shoppingtown malls,” said Senator DeFrancisco.
“I would also like to thank all of the Central New Yorkers who took the time out of their busy holiday schedules to reflect on the sacrifices made by our soldiers and to drop off their phones as a gesture to remind our soldiers that we care about them, and that we appreciate their service and sacrifice” said Senator DeFrancisco.
“The generosity of Central New Yorkers will provide 2200 soldiers with a half hour of free overseas talk time to their families.  Cell Phones for Soldiers is a national program. Our effort was a very significant asset to other initiatives throughout the country.” continued Senator DeFrancisco.
“Although our drive for this year will end on January 15, 2010, I encourage you to  donate your used phones to help the men and women who are fighting to protect our freedoms all year around,” concluded Senator DeFrancisco.
