Nominate Someone Who Helped During the Storm
John J. Bonacic
February 26, 2010

Senator John Bonacic (R/I/C – Mt. Hope), is seeking nominations from area residents, local officials, and law enforcement for Fire, Police, EMS, Highway, and Utility Workers who performed exceptional services during the storm these past several days in the Hudson Valley and Catskills.
"I know many husbands and wives and mothers and fathers who, often in a volunteer capacity, were serving people in emergency shelters, providing first aid, protecting public and private property, keeping the roads clear, and working to have the lights turned back on. These individuals, particularly the volunteers, often go unacknowledged and we should try and change that,” Senator Bonacic said.
Bonacic is seeking nominations from not only area residents, but also the spouses and children of people who may have a loved one who has helped those in need during this emergency. Nominations are open and anyone can nominate anyone in any category.
“After 9/11, everyone lauded our firefighters and EMS workers. Some of that has, sadly, worn off. Dangerous conditions, such as we have experienced these past several days, serve as a reminder to everyone of the important work done by both our paid and volunteer workers who are out there doing their jobs in the worst conditions,” Senator Bonacic said.
Nomination forms are available by dowloading the attached PDF at the bottom of this page, or by calling Senator Bonacic's office at (845) 344 3311. Nominations can be faxed to Senator Bonacic at (845) 344 3328 or emailed to him at Bonacic@Senate.State.NY.US. Bonacic will host an awards ceremony in April to honor individuals chosen from among the nominees in each area. Up to 10 people from each area of service – fire, police, EMS, Highway, and Utility repair will be chosen. All nominees will be acknowledged.
