Senator John Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently hosted Dr. Elisabeth Zamarelli of Stony Brook in Albany to honor her selection as Ms. New York Senior America 2010.
Dr. Zamarelli’s day, which included a tour of the Capitol, was capped off when she was honored with a New York State resolution sponsored by Senator Flanagan. After the resolution was introduced and adopted in the Senate Chamber, she was recognized by all of the members of the New York State Senate.
Dr. Zamarelli, who was awarded the title on April 11th at Lindenhurst High School, is a full time special education teacher who earned her doctorate at the age of sixty. She currently serves as a Suffolk County Auxiliary Police Officer and has embarked on a professional modeling career.
The mother of four and grandmother of six will compete in the national competition as the New York State representative in Atlantic City in October.
“Dr. Zamarelli is a truly inspiring and joyous woman. Hopefully, she enjoyed her visit to the state capital as much as I enjoyed hosting her. She is a great example to all women throughout our state and represent our state well as Ms. New York Senior America. I wish her all the best at the national competition,” stated Senator Flanagan.
