March 26, 2010
Senator John J. Flanagan (2nd Senate District) recently hosted Charles and Colin Tekverk, who are both members of Boy Scout Troop 75 of Kings Park as part of their efforts to achieve the Citizenship in the Community Merit Badge. The meeting with Senator Flanagan helped the boys satisfy one of the requirements of the badge as they strive to become Eagle Scouts.
During the meeting in his office, Senator Flanagan discussed his role as a state legislator. He also spoke to the William T. Rogers Middle School students about how local issues are resolved and about their roles as citizens.
"Scouting is a great way for young men to learn about the world they live in and I applaud both Charles and Colin for working towards their goal of attaining the rank of Eagle Scout. I truly appreciated their coming to my office to let me part of their efforts and hope they enjoyed our discussion as much as I did," said Senator Flanagan.
