On Wednesday October 6th Senator Serrano joined former Parks Commissioner Carol Ash, Acting Commissioner Andy Beers, Regional Director Rachel Gordon, and Roberto Clemente State Park Manager Frances Rodriguez for a tour of Roberto Clemente State Park, which included the largely completed renovations the parks’ aquatic facility.

“State Parks are a fantastic asset to any community’s quality of life. In our own district, Roberto Clemente is a great reflection of the unique sense of community that exists in the Bronx. Every resident feels a sense of ownership and an obligation to maintain the space."

Roberto Clemente State Park is a 25-acre water-front park located along the Harlem River in the Bronx. The park offers a variety of recreational and cultural activities year-round for youth, adults, senior citizens and the physically challenged. The facilities include a multi-purpose recreation building, an Olympic-size pool complex, ball fields, basketball courts, picnic areas, play-grounds and a waterfront promenade. “Swimmers will be glad to know that the Olympic-sized pool, which has been undergoing renovations, will be ready in time for the Summer season,” said Serrano. “Although it took some time to complete, the improvements are dramatic, and I’m certain that the community will be pleased.”
