For the third consecutive year, Senator Serrano participated in "It's My Park" day, an event sponsored by the New York City Department of Parks & Recreation, the City Parks Foundation, and local organizations throughout the five boroughs.
This year the Senator and his family helped with garbage pick-up and painted the fence around the fountain at Joyce Kilmer Park. "In an increasingly urban landscape, preserving our local parks has become more important than ever," said Serrano. "We’ve enjoyed this beautiful Bronx day with our neighbors, while beautifying one of our greatest local resources.”
Senator Serrano serves as Chair of the Senate Committee on Cultural Affairs, Tourism, Parks and Recreation, and sits on the Committee for Environmental Conservation. He has been a keen advocate for parks throughout the state, and has been a strong voice in Albany in the fight for parks funding during the current budget season.
