ADDABBO BRINGS PEARLE VISION CARE TO WAKEFIELD SENIOR CENTER FOR FREE EYE CHECK-UPS
NYS Senator Joseph P. Addabbo, Jr., kicked off what is hoped to be his once-a-month series of free eye exams by Pearle Vision's Ozone Park staff at some local senior centers in the Senator's district. On Wednesday morning, February 17, eight older adults and two younger adults with special needs at the Wakefield Senior Center, 135-45 Lefferts Blvd., South Ozone Park, had their eyes checked. Pearle Vision's professional staff, optometrist Dr. Jeanette Cooper, optician Bill Roussis and Pearle Vision-Ozone Park general manager Joanna Tonchuck, spent the entire morning at the center conducting free vision screenings using an auto refractor to determine range of vision/prescription and a CT machine to detect warning signs of glaucoma. The staff cleaned and adjusted eyewear, gave out goody bags containing lens cleaners, cloths and cases for glasses and provided one pass with each screening result to have a free, comprehensive eye exam at Pearle Vision's Ozone Park location, 102-22 Atlantic Avenue. Pearle's staff also presented a 20-minute lecture and gave out literature on the symptoms of chronic dry eyes, macular degeneration, glaucoma, cataracts, and diabetic eye problems, followed by Q&A.
For dates/locations of additional Pearle Vision free vision screenings coming to other senior centers around his district, call Addabbo's district office in March at 718-738-1111.
