Griffo Again Honored By New York Farm Bureau Award
State Senator Joseph Griffo (R-IP-C, Rome) was once more honored as a recipient of the Circle of Friends Award from the New York Farm Bureau, the State’s leading and most respected agricultural advocacy organization.
“I’m humbled to be recognized again by the Farm Bureau honor,” said Griffo. “I will continue to work with their leadership and advocate for the many hardworking farm families in my district and those statewide. Agribusinesses are one of the most vital force in New York State’s economy, and will be even more vital as farmers expand their role in renewable energy.”
According to the New York Farm Bureau President Dean Norton, “The ‘Circle of Friends’ award is based upon each legislator’s voting record on issues of importance to New York agriculture and other evidence of legislative support, including sponsorship of bills that Farm Bureau has either supported, or opposed, throughout the Legislative Session.”
Griffo has received the recognition for each year that he’s been in the State Senate.
“This year was especially tough farm families. There are still strong interests out there who target the New York farmer with legislation, regulation, and taxation; they weaken an institution that’s as old as New York itself.”
Griffo says that the future for farmers is challenging, but worth the fight. “Legislation that targets farms puts in peril the lifeblood of hundreds of communities Upstate as well as the overall economic health of New York State,” he said. “I plan to continue to fight for agricultural economic development policies that protect the investments of our farmers and support them as they seek to earn their livelihood.”
