Senator LaValle recently (forefront) joined federal, state, and local elected officials at a community meeting in Bridgehampton to discuss the problem of beach erosion in the Town of Southampton. The preservation of the beaches is an ongoing concern of residents who fear they will lose their homes if they are reactive rather than proactive in addressing this problem. Senator LaValle supported the community’s idea for the creation of a local taxing district, which would empower residents to outline a plan of action to restore the shoreline. Senator LaValle also stated that he remains committed to fighting for state dollars once the federal negotiation process is completed and federal funding is approved.
