Senator LaValle Writes to Governor to Initiate Major Disaster Declaration
Senator Kenneth P. LaValle today drove through the Town of Riverhead with Supervisor Sean Walter to survey the flood damage caused by rains that hit Long Island March 29 and 30 of this week.
“The damage to the infrastructure and surrounding homes is unbelievable,” said Senator LaValle. “I am very concerned for the residents who have been displaced. They have lost their homes and automobiles and are now worried about their immediate future. These people need help and should not have to bear the burden of this loss on their own.”
Upon learning the seriousness of the damage to the Town of Riverhead, Senator LaValle wrote to the Governor asking for any available disaster assistance to help them recover from this natural disaster. Financial assistance will be critically important to the Town’s effective restoration efforts and to ensuring that the people who have had to find temporary housing will be able to resume a normal quality of life.
