Senator Kenneth P. LaValle was pleased to learn of the recent Operation IMPACT grant awarded to Suffolk County. Under the program, the county will receive over $1.2 million to support crime-fighting and violence reduction activities.
“It is important that we do everything possible to keep our communities free from criminal and violent activity,” said Senator LaValle. “Operation IMPACT allows the county to build upon efforts to reduce crime and violence by providing the funding needed to support valuable crime-fighting initiatives.”
According to Senator LaValle, Operation IMPACT is a New York State Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) program. The key principles of the program are information sharing and partnerships among law enforcement agencies, intelligence-based policing, timely use of accurate crime data, and involvement of community organizations. Grants provided through Operation IMPACT support technology and personnel necessary to reduce crime.
